Banana in pyjamas

This week has seen schools across the country celebrating World Book Day. My children were invited to go into school in their pyjamas and cosy up for a story telling session. All of the children except for one (there’s always got to be one) embraced the idea and looked forward to wearing their pyjamas to school. My son Jordan, saw it as the ideal opportunity to roll out of bed at the last possible minute, stick his shoes on and head straight for school.

My daughter was the one doing the complaining, saying that she would feel silly walking to school in her PJ's and refusing to take part in the fun unless I joined in, apparently this would make her feel less silly. So I decided to reluctantly play the role of dutiful Mum.

It all started off quite well, except for the hiccup caused by my youngest son deciding that he needed to pay a lengthy visit to the toilet at 8.40am. After eventually getting him off the toilet and out of the front door, I realised that I had forgotten my daughter’s ice skating bag and dashed back. I finally closed the door feeling harassed and it was whilst doing a quick check around me to make sure that I hadn’t forgotten anyone (I have to admit that I have left a child on the wrong side of the front door before, screaming to get out) I realised that my handbag was not on my shoulder and I was locked out, in my pyjamas!
