Another draw against Charlton was a kick in the teeth

Last Saturday was another frustrating trip home after watching Charlton score so late in the game.

It made me feel just as numb as it did on Boxing day at the Valley.

I know the booing at the end of the game was more frustration being vented out and not against how the team performed on the day.

We were the better team throughout the whole game and there were lots of positives to take out of the game - standout performances from Jon Paul McGovern and Simon Ferry in particular.

The best piece of business Danny Wilson can possibly do for the club is to buy Simon Ferry from Celtic in the summer, which won't be cheap but he will have a big future in the game and is worth taking a gamble on.

Tuesday night was a strange one on the pitch, with Town playing badly in the first half, but getting two quick goals before half time really killed the game off for Oldham.

But, as the pundits on any football programme seem to say, good teams will always win even if they don’t perform on the night and that was the case on Tuesday.

Billy Paynter again showed why he won player of the month for League One with a great strike and confident penalty.

Today's game against Huddersfield will be one of the biggest tests away from home all season, with them still undefeated at home.

They also have one of the best midfielders in the division in Anthony Pilkington and one of the best strikers as well in Jordan Rhodes.

With them building this game up as their biggest of the season so far, Huddersfield will be going for it right from kick-off and its important that we defend well in the first period and then try and hit them on the counter when we can.

If we go to Huddersfield today and play like we did against Oldham on Tuesday we will lose.

However, if we impose our style of football on the game by keeping it on the deck and feeding Danny Ward and McGovern on the wings, we have every chance of getting a result and keep this amazing run of form alive.
