Time to get our own back

LAST Saturday shows how successful this season has been when I'm disappointed we only came away from Leyton Orient with a point.

With Rovers doing us a favour and beating Colchester, it would have been a good opportunity to close the gap on the teams above us, and we should have had a 90th minute penalty to do that. I think the referee had already started thinking about the full time whistle and putting his feet up because he bottled it big time.

It was great to hear Phil Smith, Jon Paul McGovern and Kevin Amankwaah have all signed new contracts at the club. It's been really useful this season to have such a good back-up to David Lucas, and it’s great news Phil will be staying with the club.

McGovern and Amankwaah have been two of the most improved players from last season and it's important we get contracts sorted sooner rather than later so the players can focus on their football.

Let’s hope Billy Paynter will sign a new contract soon as well and dispel any rumours of him leaving the club in the summer.

After today's game with Rovers we have a couple of hard away dates which could determine if we finish in the top two come May.

I'm confident we will get something from the Brighton away game with them having an awful time at home this season, but getting points at Stadium MK or St Marys will be key in our chase for a top two spot.

Today we host our local rivals Bristol Rovers and it should be a great game and one I've been looking forward to ever since leaving the Memorial Stadium last December feeling numb, not just from the cold but from the performance and result.

That was the worst I have seen Town play this season, and I'm confident that today we can get are revenge and end any little hopes Rovers have off making the play-offs and continue our great run at home.
