My son came home from school today with a letter informing me that his trip to Sevington Victorian School, arranged for Friday had regrettably been cancelled. The reason for this? A big majority
of parents were unwilling to pay for the trip and the school were unable to make up the huge shortfall.
I am absolutely furious about this because as usual my money for the trip was promptly handed to the school, not a problem. I had the money for this trip and also had to pay for another trip at the
same time. I have five kids at that school for goodness sake and every single time there is a trip letter, in goes my form and money. If it means I go without my bottle of wine or takeaway or an
evening out, so be it. I gave up smoking so that I would be able to afford to take my children on holiday, which took some doing. Don't get me wrong, I am not a saint, but this really makes me
cross.
The teacher has told the children that their trip has been cancelled and the reason why. What must those kids think when they come out of school to their parents, who puff on their endless
cigarettes, whilst comparing notes about what a blast they had at the weekend boozing it up and complaining that now they are skint?
Kids come first! I am disgusted and the worse thing is that some of these parents won’t even feel the slightest bit guilty about letting their child miss out on what would have been a wonderful
experience. I am also angry that my child is going to miss out because of their attitude and lifestyle choices.
