Half term horror

All around you is the evidence that it’s half term week. The town centre is absolutely jammed packed with harassed looking mums, dragging their bored, naughty, whingeing children around the shops. Why do we always do it to them and ourselves?

Whilst we are doing questions, can anybody tell me the answer to this one? Why does half term ALWAYS seem to coincide with that time of the month when I really need to be put into isolation, for four or five days? Does anybody else experience this problem? Every darn time they are off it happens!

Well at least we all have Halloween to look forward to! Halloween to me is a bit of a double edged sword. On one hand, the preparations (decorating of the house and getting their costume organised)is a good way of keeping them occupied when it’s cold and raining outside. However the problem is that they can become quite excited and annoyingly hyper about Halloween, resulting in much ear ache for us. I however have found a good solution!

When it all gets too much, I plug in the earphones on my laptop and listen to some of my favourite tunes. This will sometimes do the trick and allow me ten minutes peace, in order to calm down and regain my sanity(?) Sometimes this measure alone is not enough and they still keep on “MUM” “MUM” MUM” When this happens, drastic measures are then taken.

Have you ever noticed how tone death people tend to sound when they have headphones on and can’t hear themselves sing? I sing very loudly to some really classic eighties tunes (Bucks Fizz and Cher work well) and hey presto they all vanish!
