Well it’s been a bit dreary for us all lately hasn’t it? Is it ever going to stop raining? And does everybody in Swindon have a cold?
My highlight of the past week has been my monkey’s 11th Birthday, where did the time go? When I first met my little chap he had just turned six. He was so shy and withdrawn, the first time I looked after him he hid under the table and had to be coaxed out with chocolate! Fast forward five years and he has grown so much in confidence. He has a whole bunch of friends he socialises with and seems to have a new pretty girlfriend every week! In September he is off to Commonweal and I think he is going to do well, particularly in art, which he loves.
I(along with every other parent across the country) am praying that the weather improves next week for half term. If not, I plan to keep my lot busy and reduce my enormous arts and crafts tub, which seems to have overflowed. I will also get cooking with them. If the worst comes to the worst and it buckets down all week, when I get to the crawling the walls stage, I will take them to a certain soft play centre to let off some steam. The kids love it there, I hate it! It’s definitely designed with kids in mind and that only! What about us poor parents? Having to sit in those really uncomfortable plastic seats, drink terrible coffee and pass the time reading yesterday’s newspaper, which you can’t concentrate on anyhow, because the whole place echoes, the noise!
Please! Please sun shine! Then we can do a trip to Lydiard Park, a picnic in Lawns Woods, a bike ride and a visit to Coate maybe as well.
