Scrambled Eggs

It’s been a while since I last blogged and I have missed it. Sometimes it’s hard trying to find a spare moment and by the time that I do, my mind usually resembles a plate of scrambled eggs!

It has been a really rough winter so far health wise. Alfie is alternating between tonsillitis and ear infections constantly and has been really poorly over the last few months, except that he is not poorly in the conventional way; he may have been suffering with poison on his tonsils, or an eardrum that has burst, but believe me he is not known to linger on the sofa in a crumpled poorly heap the way that we do. That kid must have the highest pain threshold known to man! When Alfie is poorly he passes his time by causing even more chaos than usual. The cats’ tails get bitten (sensory overload) the lights get switched constantly on and off, he climbs, he slays pretend dragons and eats for England! Me, well I run around like a headless chicken after him brandishing a bottle of antibiotics and a medicine spoon.

I am trying to think of some news to tell you but I am finding it difficult to think at the moment. My daughter has gained control of the television remote and is constantly switching between the music channels whilst turning the TV up and down, up and down. It would be really nice to listen to one song Abbie, even if it is only a minute’s worth of it! Alfie is currently brandishing his toy sword whilst slaying the pretend dragon that we spoke about earlier and Amy is sat very peacefully amongst the noise reading a book. I really admire Amy because she can concentrate on whatever she is doing despite the madness of what is happening all around her. She certainly didn’t get that particular talent from me. Now what was I talking about…

Alfie has developed this food phobia thing, which is driving me to distraction and also making Tesco even more of a profit where bleach is concerned. If he is sat at the dinner table and somebody gets food of any sort on his or her face, no matter how small a piece, he ends up vomiting! It’s a nightmare and I am really hoping that he grows out this habit very soon. He went along to the school disco on Friday and had promised two of the little girls in his class a dance. When I picked him up, I asked him if he had danced with little girl number one, to which he replied “No she wasn’t there” I then asked if he had danced with girl number two, to which he replied in an angry manner “No!” I asked why and he told me with a look of absolute disgust on his face “Because she had crisps on her mouth, why did she have to go and get food on her face?” Oh dear please grow out of it Alfie or you will make a really bad dinner date when you grow up.

Has anybody read any of Ali Sparkes books? My daughter is currently reading her way through the Shapeshifter series. Never have I known her so quiet! She seems to have her nose permanently stuck in a book. The only problem that I have is getting her to turn the bedroom light off at a decent time in order to sleep. I turn the light off and then catch the little minx trying to read in the dark when I come to bed. I have now taken to turning her light out and taking the book away from her.

Well I can’t think of any more news, although I am sure that I have missed lots. I really must go and try to amuse Alf who has grown bored of the dragon and seems to think that constantly eating is a good way of relieving boredom. Time for some Ben 10 colouring in I think. Tomorrow I am taking all six children out for the day. We are going on a train to Gloucester. Wish me luck!
