WE don’t know the details of what triggered Shelby Myerscough’s mental health problems – to delve too deeply would be unfair and cruel to a teenager who has already suffered enough in her young life.

Suffice to say that whatever has happened to this young girl, it was bad enough to bring about the onset of post traumatic stress syndrome, which in turn led her in desperation to attempt suicide and later be sectioned.

Now, six months down the line, she is free from medication and hopefully on the road to recovery – an outcome due in no small part to the mental health charity MIND, which not only offered her support in her darkest times, but also helped her mother through what must have been an horrendous ordeal.

Shelby has some wise words on the subject of the stigma of mental health, something MIND has been trying to eradicate for decades. The truth is mental health problems can affect anyone of any age, and it could be your son or daughter – or even you – fighting their demons next.

With that in mind, we urge you to support Shelby’s courageous sky dive and her aim to raise £500 for the charity.
