Letter from John Monniot

9:11am Friday 12th March 2010

I WAS pleased to read in today’s Adver (March 9) that Forward Swindon Ltd, unlike the former New Swindon Company, will take account of the needs of the whole town and be run by local people in its regeneration work. I do hope, though, that local ownership of the company won’t limit its access to national and regional sources of money.

Letter from Des Morgan

9:09am Friday 12th March 2010

HAVING read the article from Rikki Hunt (SA March 10) one could be forgiven for thinking he had discovered the Holy Grail and not simply purloined a mature technology and offered it alongside a business plan. In attempting to present the Swindon Wi Fi project alongside really important, innovative and revolutionary projects such as the GWR Hospital, the railways etc Rikki is really engaging in overstating his case into the realms of hyperbole.

Letter from Greg Heathcliffe

9:08am Friday 12th March 2010

ALTHOUGH ready to attack Robert Feal-Martinez over his recent letter re climate change I see very few alternative suggestions from Andrew Day as to what else may be the cause. So far as the UKIP is concerned we believe there is scant evidence to suggest the cause is all man made, we know that we must continue with coal, nuclear and other power stations as "alternative energy sources" are, by themselves, an expensive and unworkable option in our increasingly energy dependent world and that our view is supported by many scientists around the globe.

Letter from Tony Early

3:20pm Thursday 11th March 2010

On Sunday, March 14 my wife, I and a number of like-minded people are passing through your town on the way to a charity fund raising event. We will be travelling by motorcycle as will all the others, with the purpose of gathering and giving away money to a charity organisation who look after the mothers and families of the brave young men and women who make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Letter from Miss Bray

3:02pm Thursday 11th March 2010

I'M appalled to see your take on the charity ride due to take place on Mother’s Day. This ride has been advertised for months in a variety of places how can they say they didn't know! This is not a political ride, this is a ride to respect the fallen heroes fighting for this country.

Letter from Juliet Gellatley

4:40pm Tuesday 9th March 2010

WITH Mother's Day (March 14) fast approaching, thoughts rightly turn to all those hard working mums. Well, please spare a thought for Britain's hardest working mother - the dairy cow.

Letter from Brian Burrows

4:23pm Tuesday 9th March 2010

IT is clear that there is no strategy in planning the future of Swindon that means no empathy between buildings. An example is the block of flats on Sanford Street that is a modern design but clashes with the older buildings in this area. Decisions are made on an individual basis that spoils the image of Swindon. What is needed is an overall plan and decisions made for the most important area for development.

Letter from Les White

3:55pm Tuesday 9th March 2010

I READ with interest about our WI-Fi project deserves a chance. First of all should this not have been brought to the full council for discussion and debate before it was granted by the cabinet to spend our council money on this project? From what I have read this was not passed in a proper fashion and therefore it has been hauled forward for an investigation by the council’s internal audit to check all is above board.

Letter from J H Oliver

3:59pm Tuesday 9th March 2010

WITH reference to Des Morgan’s letter (SA, March 1) on bullying.

Letter from Melanie Spencer

4:03pm Tuesday 9th March 2010

IN response to Gregory Jackowski’s letter (March 6) unfortunately I don’t think the government are going to abolish prescription charges just yet. Cancer patients have only just become exempt from paying. I’m sorry to hear that you have been ill but taking all your medication is important.
