I was disgusted with the attitude of the police concerning the accident on Great Western Way on Monday morning.
The accident happened at 9.40am but the road was closed until 3pm. Why? It should have been re-opened by noon at the latest.
The removal of the injured should have been completed in one hour at most and the clearance of the area within a further hour.
What was the delay for, other than to stop the movement of traffic?
It caused gridlock for most of West Swindon.
The police should realise they have a responsibility to other road users as well as those involved in an accident and keep roads open where possible.
Motorists visiting Swindon on business do not wish to sit around in traffic congestion unnecessarily and Monday after the accident was ridiculous.
