I think that Mr Des Morgan needs to know a few facts about designated car parking spaces – does he not understand why they are there? For the people entitled to use them.

My daughter is disabled, she has Spina Bifida and is totally confined to a wheelchair, she cannot walk or stand. She has a job and drives a specially adapted car and carries her wheelchair in the car, hence she needs a wide bay for parking. She does not want sympathy from other drivers but just a little thought sometimes.

To get into the car she drags herself on to the seat from her chair, dismantles the wheels and puts them over on to the back seat, then lifts the body of the chair over on to the passenger seat, and the reverse for getting out when parked.

Unfortunately there are far less disabled bays in relation to normal bays, so designated parking spaces are put there for a reason and should not be abused as suggested by Mr Morgan.
