I CANNOT understand how money has been allowed to be wasted in the area by the Highways Agency and Swindon Borough Council Highways and Byways Dept.
After completion of the Turnpike/Blunsdon bypass system (a reported £65m), and the yet to be completed changes to the entrance and exits from Aspect Park, we as a nation and local populace must be made of money.
The Blunsdon bypass was a successive waste after the changes made some 2/3 years earlier at Turnpike. Why was a simple overpass not put in place instead of the complicated traffic system now completed. The same applies to Aspect Park. A replacement set of lights have been erected at the entrance at the northern end of Pipers Way, and a new set of lights some 200 yards down the road at the presumed exit.
Does the council have shares in a traffic light manufacturer, as it seems that every time work is required at a junction of roads a new set of lights appears? Lights have been proved to be inappropriate before as traffic controls, and are surely unnecessary at the exit from the golf complex and Aspect Park. At most a roundabout would have done the job and would have cost far less money, which could have been put to use keeping the Park and Ride at Groundwell.
