I HOPE when they have finished in the town centre, that all the disruption will be worth it (I very much doubt it).
I feel sorry for anyone who works in the shops, along Canal Walk, and have to listen to drills going all day, especially at this time of year, when we should be encouraging people to come here, not putting them off. My friend and I went up to see the plans and were told that the pretty lights would be on after dusk, so who is going to benefit from them? Not the shoppers.
We go into town about twice a week, but at 9.30am, so we can’t get the cheap parking, because it doesn’t start till 10am.
I suppose they are hoping that shoppers from away will come, but who wants to come to a building site? Also this morning both lifts were broken in the car park overlooking Wharf Green, there were no notices so we parked on the fifth floor as usual, and had to walk down.
There are two lifts, one has been broken for weeks (great advert).
For goodness get your act together I notice nothing has been done to our filthy bus station yet. It would have been better to clean that up before putting in lights that very few would see.
