Letter from Jane Wilson

FURTHER to Rikki Hunt’s article in the Adver on March 10 I have a few questions.

He states that Swindon is one of the UK’s best areas for broadband connectivity, only 50 per cent of households are connected. Could this be that it is a matter of choice for many of those individuals not to use the internet or have a computer? If this proves to be the case how will it skew his business projections?

How will Signal allow more efficient energy distribution throughout the national grid? He says it will, I am curious to know how.

What exactly is the uptake in Highworth?

How will CCTV, joined up by Signal reduce public sector costs? Again, he says it will, I am curious to know how.

What will the return on investment be on the proposed £450,000 loan from the Swindon tax payer via Swindon Borough Council and what is the estimated risk to those funds.

As a point of reference Swindon Medical Society was not The model for the NHS it was one of many similar initiatives countrywide established by industrial centres for the care of the workforce. Bevan was born in Tredegar, Wales where there was a similar system in operation. He sat on the Cottage Hospital board and his was the phrase ‘we will Tredegarise you’.
