I CANNOT agree that the Chapel Roundabout is unsafe, much worse are the Bruce Street and Moonrakers roundabouts.
The approach from the north three lanes, left for Wickes and BMW, no problem, centre lane straight on towards the town centre, no problem, right lane straight on to town centre or right to Lidl/Gorse Hill, problem caused by the red hatching. One turning right has no option but to use it to avoid impeding, or colliding with traffic on one’s left heading into town. Answer: take two metres off the red hatching so people can turn right, or go straight on in the right hand lane down to the Transfer Bridges in safety.
Same thing on leaving Gorse Hill, this time a two lane exit, left for Upper Stratton and Cirencester etc, right hand exit straight on to BMW or right into town, trouble is the right hand lane has a central bollard, pushing one a bit to the left, the left exit has white hatching which one must use to turn left so as not to block queueing traffic behind, so change or remove these obstacles for a safer junction, the other two approaches to the roundabout seem to be no problem.
The Moonrakers exit from Whitworth Road is stupid, should be left hand exit towards Blunsdon and Cirencester and straight on for Beechcroft Road and Upper Stratton the right lane, right turn only towards Gorse Hill and town centre, not as now when two vehicles are often side by side trying to get into Beechcroft Road.
