I have dropped a note to Swindon Borough Council to acknowledge what a complete "dog's breakfast" the administration has made of residents' parking.
As a resident in the Eastcott ward I am faced with increased fees for virtually non-existent residents' parking.
They have increased fees for a second vehicle and intend to phase out permits for those households with more than one car, yet have failed to make any realistic plans to cope with the problem.
The administration could have invested money from decriminalisation into creating more parking spaces in the streets by reducing pavement widths on one side of the road.
The administration could have made more residential streets one-way to improve parking spaces.
The administration could have made car parks available to residents at no extra cost during off-peak times.
The administration could have made efforts to ensure town centre residents aren't penalised for owning a car.
Instead it has chosen to push ahead with some unpopular decisions that appear to show little understanding, bordering on contempt, for those who live in the centre of town.
I will be interested to see how the Conservative administration fairs in the forthcoming elections.
I hope people will place the responsibility for the lack of understanding in the lap of those who imposed this latest round of dreadful parking decisions.
