REF P Beaven's letter (SA, May 25). The judiciary sentencing given to animal rights activists was mentioned.
This wants looking into. Recently, a man tortured and then murdered his baby, did he get 12 years? He got six years and will be out in less.
I believe a lot of doctors and professors are against animal testing, one such was a scientist at Oxford University, Richard Ryder, and he had used lots of animals in experiments. He joined those against vivisection and wrote a book called Victims Of Science.
Dr Albert Schweitzer, said: "Compassion in which all ethics take root, must not limit itself to mankind."
Maybe the scientists will find the gene that gives us compassion, the pro-vivisection lobby could certainly do with some.
