RE: Pay-to-Park plan.
Firstly I would be firmly against such a plan, motorists pay enough tax as it is. Anyway before any such brainless scheme could come in many details need to be noted.
1. Bus services do not cover all areas of work in Swindon, so is the council prepared to pay out residents’ tax to pay the bus companies to run a service to all paces of work, 24 hours a day 365 days a year, buses have been cut because the council would not subsidise them.
2. The work place these days are no longer 9 to 5 even office work they work seven days a week, bus services do not.
3. People also come to work from areas all around Swindon some 30 miles a day, the council took away the park and ride, so are you going to return it?
4. What about the places of work which are nowhere near a bus route.
5. I think this would be very unfair on business and would drive them to towns that do not have this scheme.
Please do not even think of such a scheme it is just a money making exercise.
