THE last time I wrote to the Adver letters pages I was most critical of the leader of the council, not this time. At the public meeting on April 6, 2011 regarding Tadpole Farm development in north Swindon he was right to be honest with the people there. Swindon has to have a coherent plan for additional housing or it will be open season for developers. The issue is getting all the infrastructure right.

The draft Core Strategy now out for consultation with a number of amendments on infrastructure is the way to defend the town.

When a member of the audience put the question “if the infrastructure is right will you vote for Tadpole Farm” only Rod Bluh of the decision makers on the platform put his hand up. The MP, his mother, his employee and the third Abbey Meads councillor who is also the current council candidate all failed to show their hand despite repeated encouragement from the MC. If your representatives do not have the courage to tell you the bad news how can you be sure they have the courage to put your demands to the developer no matter what the angry face act was for your benefit.

Well done Rod Bluh, leadership requires political courage, now you just need to stop daydreaming and you might one day fill the shoes of McPherson, Bown, Masters and Huzzey.
