THE A419 TRUNK ROAD (WHITE HEART TO LADY LANE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A419 trunk road in the Borough of Swindon to allow resurfacing, road markings, structure maintenance and inspections, kerbing and drainage alterations, traffic loop installation, surveys, layby environmental cleansing and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place, commencing on or after 18 June 2018 and be completed by 6 July 2018. The effect of the Order would be to impose on the A419 southbound a temporary mandatory speed limit of:
(a) 50 mph for 1220 metres south of Lady Lane overbridge;
(b) 40 mph from 1220 metres to 4950 metres south of Lady Lane overbridge;
(c) 50 mph from 4950 meters to 5050 metres south of Lady Lane overbridge
(d) 50 mph on the entrance slip road from Lady Lane Junction.

The Order would also authorise the closure of the southbound layby at Wyevale Garden Centre. The speed limits (which would not apply to emergency service vehicles) and closure would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works period and would only apply when traffic management measures are in place. This order would suspend The A417 and A419 Trunk Roads (Gloucester to Swindon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2018. The Order would come into force on 16 June 2018 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
