SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL PARKING AT DROPPED KERBS AND DOUBLE PARKING CONTRAVENTIONS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Sections 85 and 86 of The Traffic Management Act 2004 that the Swindon Borough Council, as a Special Enforcement Area (SEA), intend to impose a penalty charge for parking at dropped kerbs and double parking contraventions as follows:

Double Parking (Contravention 26) Parked more than 50cms from the edge of the carriageway and not within a designated parking place.
Dropped Kerb (Contravention 27 or 28) Parked adjacent to a dropped footway (kerb) lowered for the purpose of assisting pedestrians, cyclists or vehicles entering or leaving the carriageway. Or parking on part of the carriageway raised to meet the level of a footway, cycle track or verge for the same purpose as set out above. Any driver of a vehicle who commits the above contravention will be liable for a Penalty Charge set at £70 / £50 which is reduced to £35 / £25 if paid within the first 14 days and increased to £105 / £75 if it is not paid within 28 days after the end of the discount period. Exemptions for Double Parking Vehicles parked wholly within a designated parking place or any other part of the carriageway where parking is specially authorised Vehicles used by the Emergency Services Where Loading and Unloading is taking place Vehicles used for waste collection, building works or roads works.
