Unsung Hero in the Community Award

The Unsung Hero Award aims to honour and celebrate an extraordinary individual who has played a vital role in their community. Whether that be caring for a neighbour or donating their time and resources to support others, we want to hear about those that are making a real difference to other people’s lives.

Sponsors message M J Church was founded in 1974 by Mike and Paula Church, and is still a wholly owned family business employing over 400 people across the South West of England. The company originally started out as a Plant and Transport company specialising in small groundworks projects, but has now grown into a major Civils and Earthworks company carrying out major infrastructure projects across the South of England.

M J Church operate a waste division carrying out all aspects of waste collection, from construction and demolition to commercial business waste. Plus, a new venture called ‘We collect your rubbish’, which collects house and site clearance waste from your door.

M J Church also own a quarry just outside Bristol, used for aggregate extraction and inert tipping, with half of the quarry being dedicated as a nature reserve and a dedicated area open to the public.
