The strawberry picking season has started at Lotmead Farm.

More than 40,000 plants put in during the winter are now starting to bear fruit, many of them a little later than usual because of the cold weather in April and May.

And the farm on the outskirts of town has a new attraction. A jam lorry has appeared on the Stawberry Thief play trail.

Manager John Meaden said: "It's proving very popular with children, and we’ve got lots of new animals in the small animal enclosure for people to meet too.”

Anyone wanting to visit the farm at the weekend needs to book, but it's not needed during the week. Lotmead is now open seven days a week from 9.30am until 5pm.
