Reading about a woman who cycled the length of the country has inspired Libby Pannett-Smith to get on her own bike and raise money for a new sensory room at Marlborough House adolescent mental health unit.
She said: “During lock down our unit received an increasing number of referrals due to anxieties related to Covid and associated issues. We work with teenagers with complex mental health needs who cannot be treated in the community.
“I wanted to set myself a challenge and do something to raise money for the unit, particularly to contribute towards a sensory room. I read an inspiring book on a lady who cycled the length of the country and it made me question whether I might do this too.
"I bought a bike, joined a cycle club and started cycling to work to build up my fitness. I will nervously start my adventure on August 7 - 1000 miles in 14 days.”
