Swindon Advertiser: Blunsdon

Blunsdon means the hill belonging to Blunt. The settlement was originally an Iron Age fort.

Romans later settled in the area and built what is now known as the B4019, from Cirencester, via Wanborough to Winchester and Silchester.

Blunsdon is one of the fastest growing parishes in Swindon borough, with more than 2,000 homes.

These days, Blunsdon is perhaps best known for the Abbey Stadium, home to the Swindon Robins speedway team and dog racing.
