1st Stratton St Margaret Scout Group is holding a Summer Fete and Race Night on Saturday 5th July to raise money for some new gates. The concrete gate posts were destroyed when a lorry reversed into them.
We're assuming it was a lorry. It must have been something big to cause so much damage. Local residents have said that lorries regularly use the scout hall drive to reverse after taking a wrong turn into the Kingsdown estate.
Comptons of Purton have been brilliant and are making new wrought iron gates for us and we're looking forward to seeing them.
The fete starts at 12 noon and there are all sorts of attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Please come along and help us buy our new gates.
In the evening we're holding a Race Night. Tickets are £5 and that includes a ploughman's supper. We'll also have a licensed bar. Doors open at 7.30pm and the first race will be at 8pm. Tickets are available from Scout Leader Terry (tel: 07725105575). Or email Terry.Shipp@Wiltshirescouts.org.uk.
