A Royal Wootton Bassett woman has been fined £300 after failing to pick up her dog's mess, also being ordered to pay a further £80.

Claire Favarin of Marlborough Court, was charged with the offence of failing to clear up after her dog at Poet’s Field in the town.

The incident was witnessed by an authorised dog control officer and Ms Favarin was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

Ms Favarin did not pay and reminders and requests for interview were sent to her but she never responded.

She had in fact given a false address.

Ms Favarin pleaded guilty at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court, Chippenham, on April 16 and was fined £300.

She was also ordered to pay £50 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Mandy Bradley, service director of public protection, said: “Most dog walkers in our county are extremely responsible but for those who refuse to clear up after their dog the message is clear that it will not be tolerated.”

This case is the second one to come to court following dog control orders that came into effect in Wiltshire in September 2012.
