An Introduction to Natural Dyeing

Explore natural dyeing techniques for a variety of colours and effects. Create colour samples and fabric to use for your own textile project

Discover the processes to harness colours from plants that grow all around us - such as gorse, nettles, walnut, onion skins, dandelion, oak. Learn to identify which natural dye plants are available to us in the landscape. You will create a range of tones from the softer earthy colours of our land to strong, vivid colours using traditional dye plants such as madder and weld. These plants have been used for thousands of years to colour the textiles of our ancestors all around the world.

Lunch and refreshments are included. Please email events@wiltshirewildlife.org with any dietary requirements.

This reserve can be hard to find so please check directions beforehand and leave plenty of time.
