A NEW play celebrating International Women’s Month hits the stage at the Wyvern Theatre later this month.
Wanted tells her story rather than history and features the lesser known stories of significant women from the past.
They include Irena Sendler who rescued more than 2,500 children from the Warsaw ghetto during the Nazi occupation, Olive Morris, British Black Panther and women's rights activist Phoolan Devi the fearsome Bandit Queen in India.
Artistic director, Pamela Cole-Hudson said, “Gazebo Theatre is proud to have producethis important work which is educational, entertaining and most importantly thought provoking. Wanted may be by women and about women but we believe we have created a piece of theatre that truly is for everyone.”
Writer and performer, Tonia Daley-Campbell said: “We wanted to tell a story about women who have been ‘Wanted’, wanted by the police, by authorities and essentially locked up for acting upon what they believe is right. If you’re interested in history, if you’re interested in storytelling and if you are interested in female history this is the show for you.”
The show is on March 18. For tickets and information visit swindontheatres.co.uk or call 01793 524481
