A TEENAGER has set up a £25k fundraising page to help her bring the story of how her grandparents got together to life.

Alexandria Hayes, working along with her father Nick, is currently producing a short film based in the east end of London in 1967.

It is inspired by the 17-year-old’s grandparents John and Kathrine and their early experiences of dating.

Krazy will be filmed at the Tap and Barrel pub on Manchester Road.

Alexandria, who lives in the town centre, told the Adver: “The story was something my father and I had always wanted to turn into a short piece, it is a story I had heard many times growing up.

“I always found it entertaining, especially when I was old enough to discover who these people were.

“It’s an eight minute short film of a scene which takes place in a pub and a lady’s bathroom and involves a brief dialogue with my grandfather and the antagonist of the story and a little humorous mistake my grandmother made.”

She doesn’t want to give all the twists away, but said: “The film is being told in a very artistic manner, with the music really making it all come together.”

The project started as way for her to prove to her parents that she was serious about pursuing a career as an actress. “The deal was that if I wrote the first draft, my father would come and help me with the rest of the development.

“The piece took about three months to develop, it started off as a 20-minute drama but has been shortened into an approximately 10-minute drama-comedy. It is loosely based on true events, with lots of artistic licence for dramatic effect. The research we did was mainly on the people my grandmother made the mistake with and also speaking to her about what happened.”

The money raised will go towards equipment and costumes such as a wide-angle lens, vintage clothing, props like fake cigarettes and rights to 1967 songs. “My ultimate budget would be £25,000 allowing for a professionally produced piece. However, the film will be made no matter what the budget,” she said.

“We have some friends who work in the industry who offered to help us with the project, further casting will depend on the budget, friends and family have also offered to be extras to create the crowded pub scene.”

This project will help her complete a Gold Arts Award which gives her a Level 3 Certificate. She said: “I got the opportunity to do this by being a volunteer theatre teaching assistant at Prime Theatre in Swindon. “

They plan to start filming this summer or early this autumn depending on how much money they manage to raise. To support her visit gofund.me/c1f6bdd6
