The Highworth Artists Society is hosting their Spring Exhibition later this month.

The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor of Highworth Nick Gardiner on Saturday March 17 in the Community Room at the Highworth Council offices.

A variety of beautiful paintings will be on show until Saturday March 25.

Visitors will be able to meet the artists and talk to them about their work.

Tea will be served and any donations will go to the Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Appeal.

On the preview night, Mayor Gardiner will present the Spring Trophy to the artist who created the painting which is voted as the favourite.

Jacquie Jackman, one of the artists who is exhibiting her work, said: "As a member of Highworth Artists Society, my hobby has grown.

"The inspiration drawn from the considerable talent in the group and the encouragement of fellow members challenged me to try new mediusms.

"Watercolour, acrylic and pastel now enhance my repertoire whilst maintaining my passion for oils."

Jacquie talked about the creative process.

She added: "Each attempt at a painting is a journey.

"From the first tentative steps of brush on canvas, through fascination and frustration to that sense of achievement when the last highlight is put in place and the picture emerges from the minds' eye.

"Success and failure go hand in hand but nothing can surpass that warm sense of pride felt when the kind words of a passing stranger or the sale of a piece elevate the attempt to an achievement."
