Vinyl record fans will be getting in a spin this month as around 600 exclusive records are released.

Record Store Day is an international celebration of the independent music sector, and has been running for more than 10 years in the USA and UK.

Around 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate the unique culture.

In Swindon it is Red House Records, nestled inside Holmes Music in Faringdon Road, that is waving the flag for vinyl in the town and RPM Records in Devizes Road, Old Town.

Red House Records is run by Paul Holmes, who has worked in the family business since 1979.

Paul believes that today’s vinyl fan comes from every walk of life and every age group from those who remember records first time around, to those born in the download age.

Last year at Redhouse Records there were queues around the corner waiting to add that special release to their collections. This year Darkroom Espresso in Swindon will be taking orders for coffee from approx 7am on the day.

Paul said: “They will come to you so no need to leave your spot in the queue. As a special thank you from us, for the first 10 queuing customers, the coffee will be free.’’

RPM are also promising limited edition releases from artists including David Bowie, Rage Against The Machine, Mac Demarco, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, The Streets and many more!

Record Store Day 2018 is on Saturday April 21 from 8am and Sunday, April 22 at 10am. For more detail visit www.redhouserecords.co.uk or https://www.facebook.com/RPMRecordsLtd/
