As the days lengthen again and the new year dawns, a glittering programme of entertainments beckons from Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre.

When the January blues set in, why not buck up with a visit? Whether you are a Strictly fan, like classic rock music, or raunchy comedy capers, then check out the busy and varied selection of events.

The Wyvern has two Strictly Specials coming up on January 20 and 22. The first features Brendan Cole in All Night Long – when he will be joined by his guest partners and a live band, to delight dance fans with his spectacular Latin and ballroom production (tickets £41).

In the second Strictly Special, Kristina Rihanoff will head the bill. One of the most renowned dancers and choreographers from the BBC tv show, Kristina will lead a cast including former Strictly professionals Robin Windsor and Oksana Platero. Tickets ranges from £29.50 to £53.50, with the higher price tickets including a chance to meet and greet the stars after the show.

If classic rock is more your scene, January’s programme at the Wyvern kicks off with Talon: The Very Best of the Eagles on Saturday January 13. This is Talon’s 20th anniversary show and features all the Eagles’ unforgettable hits, such as Hotel California, Take it Easy and One of These Nights. Tickets are £28. Alternatively, Joe Brown will at the Wyvern on Friday 19 January, Just Joe – though he will have one special guest, Sha Na Na founder Henry Gross. They will be playing music and lifting the lid on 60 years of Rock ‘n’ Roll (£28.50).

Another classic rock story comes to life on January 25, in the Rolling Stones Story – a high energy concert celebrating the music of the iconic band, which boasts the world’s finest Mick Jagger lookalike in Paul Ashworth and promises a truly authentic Rolling Stones spectacle. Tickets are £27.50.

Popular comedian Sarah Millican will bring her brand of frank, funny and filthy humour to the Wyvern on January 21 – though the show is already sold out.

The Lunchtime Recital Series continues on January 24 with a performance by Sarah Mattinson on flute and Claire Toomer on piano. This mother and daughter team will present to programme including the Ballade by Reinecke, Sancan’s Sonatine and a Bach Sonata.

Perhaps you have not had quite enough panto yet – in which case, ‘Adult Panto’ Sinbad the Seaman might be just what you are looking for. Following the success of the Market Theatre Company’s last offering, Puss and Dick, they return with a new entertainment fill of corny jokes, raunchy plots and sexual innuendo. Suitable for those aged 16 and older, with tickets selling for £20.

If you have the stomach for something a little stronger, the circus is coming to town on January 28 – the Circus of Horrors to be precise. After 22 years, and tours all over the world, their new production Voodoo promises bizarre and fantastic circus acts woven into a horror story full of dark magic. Tickets are £23.50 to £27.50.

January at the Wyvern rounds off with a one man show by Suggs – called what a King Cnut: A Life in the Realm of Madness. The new show is a follow-up to his first popular show, My Life Story. The first show concerned his rise to musical success and this new production explains what he did when he got there. Tickets are £30.50.

The Wyvern’s comedy programme kicks off on February 7 and 8, with a show by Tim Vince, featuring lots of silly new jokes, homemade props and daft ditties (tickets £27), followed by the Comedy Club in The Place on February 24 (£12).
