THERE were plenty of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ when families descended on Ruskin Junior School for bonfire night festivities.
More than 800 people from Ruskin, Beechcroft Infant School and the Stratton community enjoyed fireworks in the school field on Monday night.
It was the second time the school had put on a bonfire night event and deputy headteacher, Sarah Prevost, said it had been a success.
“It was absolutely excellent. There was lots of positive feedback and lots of people said they had an absolutely fantastic time,” she said. “This is the second time we have done it.
“It has proved to be really popular. The parents and children have all said how much they enjoy it so we are going to continue to do it.
“It is something we want to do for the community and for our children. It was an opportunity to provide an experience that was affordable for our families. There was lots of entertainment for the children.”
The night also included a barbecue, a rifle range, music, glow sticks and a bouncy castle.
