COUNCILLORS for Walcot and Park North say they have secured major road repairs to two potholed roads in their ward.

The councillors, who are all Labour, have allocated funds for the repair of Eastern Avenue and Frobisher Drive after running a campaign earlier this year to get the potholed roads fixed.

Coun Mark Dempsey said: “We know there are more roads that need attention but this is puts us on the right road.

“We promised action and we are delighted to have delivered; on that promise.”

Coun Abdul Amin said: “We have worked hard to get action on road repairs in Walcot and Park North. Two years ago we launched our campaign for road repairs. We have campaigned together with the community.

“Last year, we secured the resurfacing of Kingswood Avenue in Park North and so we are delighted to have got action on Eastern Avenue in West Walcot and Frobisher Drive in East Walcot.”

Coun Steve Allsopp said: “This is great news for the people of our ward. Two years ago it appeared the council repairs were going nowhere and we were labelled pothole city. We will be continuing our campaign and we would be really grateful if residents can let us know where the worst potholes in the ward are so that we can continue to press for action.”
