Uli Jon Roth, former member of rock giants the Scorpions, still has a sting in his musical tail as he proves when he heads for Swindon.

He has promised a full two hour gig for fans in Swindon. So The Vic in Old Town is throwing open its doors at the earlier time of 7pm on Monday (November 12).

German born Ulirich Roth is best known for his guitarmanship with rock and blues band The Scorpions but Uli is also a multi instrumentalist and master of classical guitar which he fuses with his own rock compositions. He invented his own instrument, the six octave Sky guitar.

He has played with some of the best guitarists in the world including Joe Satriani and Michael Schrenker and even jammed with Brian May at Wembley Arena in London.

He writes philosophical treaties and her beliefs and inspirations in life can be traced to the release of three albums with his band Electric Sun, which are dedicated to the spirit of Jimi Hendrix, Anwar el-Sadat, the assassinated president of Egypt, and Martin Luther King.

Uli also dabbles in oil painting and was romantically involved with artist Monika Dannemann. She was Jimi Hendrix’s girlfriend when he died. the couple collaborated on a number of songs including the Scorpions We’ll Burn The Sky. She died at the age of 50 and Uli has dedicated a number of his songs to her.

The guitarist will be playing a mix of his back catalogue and new songs when he comes to The Vic in Victoria Road at 7pm. Uli will be supported by Hangfire and Nightblade. Tickets are £15 from 01793 535713.
