SCOUTS and brownies from across Swindon are rehearsing to take part in a variety show at the Wyvern Theatre later this month.
The Gang Show, which is in its 24th year in Swindon, will involve about 95 scouts, brownies, cubs, guides, and beavers, aged from seven to 18, as well as some of their adult leaders.
Rehearsals started in earnest at Kingsdown School in September and will take place every Sunday until the first show on November 28.
Tony Kilburn, the district scout commissioner for north Swindon, said it was an auspicious year as this was the 80th national anniversary of The Gang Show, which started in London after becoming an annual fixtures for many Scout groups.
“It’s a variety show. It’s a mixture of songs and dances and sketches,” he said.
“It’s an extra part of the scouting movement. The rehearsals are going very well. The whole cast is looking forward to the show.”
The show runs from November 28 to December 1, with four evening performances and one matinee on the Saturday.
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions. To book, call The Wyvern ticket office on 01793 524 481.
