MESSAGES of remembrance for UK armed forces which were left by customers at Sainsbury’s in Royal Wootton Bassett have been sent to the Royal British Legion to be planted in the grounds of Lydiard Park.
Sainsbury’s customers in the town had the chance to help create a wall of messages in support of the Armed Forces, past and present, and their families, in the run up to Remembrance Sunday this week.
The store, in Borough Fields Shopping Centre, is just one of seven stores across the country which created a special message wall in-store to help capture what Remembrance means to local residents. Customers were able to pick up a special poppy-shaped card from display boxes at the store’s customer service desk last week and could then choose to put their message onto the store’s community noticeboard to help create the tribute wall or pass to staff to keep private until the messages were packaged up.
Sainsbury’s Wootton Bassett store manager, Julian Collier, said: “Our customers have always been supportive of the Royal British Legion and the charity means a lot to this community.”
