JOHN Lewis at Home in Swindon has been working with Commonweal School in support of the Young Enterprise Company Programme.
The programme is a charity that helps pupils to set up and run a company for a year. John Lewis at Home Swindon supplied one of their partners as a business adviser, who offers advice and support to the pupils as necessary.
The programme is aimed at giving pupils an insight to business. Since last October, business adviser Dan Thuysbaert has lead training sessions for the pupils about customer services, selling techniques and John Lewis at Home Swindon has also sponsored a cup for Teamwork at the Young Enterprise County Finals.
Dan said: “It has been so rewarding seeing the pupils learn and develop skills in business.
“The two companies from Commonweal School have both done very well.
“The Saints Original Clothing company came runners up in a trade fair in December 2012 and won at the Outlet Trade Fair in February 2013.
“Spectrum, another team which I have supported at the school, have gone on to win the Teamwork award at the Young Enterprise County finals.
“I am definitely looking to carry on supporting the school and pupils next year.”
