BROOK Field Primary School inspires children to become learners for life.

Deputy headteacher Dan Clarke, who is taking over as headteacher in September, said they teach children to see failure as the first step towards success.

The school, which has pupils from West and north Swindon, has 14 classes and more than 50 staff.

Mr Clarke, who has been at the school for six years, said: “Our school motto, ‘celebrating all our steps to success’, forms the basis of what we value in children’s education.

“We help them to understand that failure is that first step to success.

“We give children that confidence to fail but also provide them with the tools to ensure they learn from their failure and ultimately achieve success.

“We give them the ability to learn from failure to create independent and driven learners of the future.

“We are very proud of our curriculum.

“We believe we provide an engaging, diverse and challenging curriculum.

“We ensure all our children receive a fully rounded curriculum, including all our foundation subjects.

“Teachers make it engaging and good fun for all the children.”

The school had its last Ofsted inspection in 2009, in which it was given a grade of good with outstanding features.

Mr Clarke praised the pupils and staff for their contribution to the school.

“Our staff are brilliant and our pupils are really polite and well-behaved,” he said.

Headteacher Melanie Sancto, who has been at the school for 23 years and has been headteacher for six, is leaving to take up a post as headteacher in South Wales.

Mr Clarke will become head after the summer holidays.

“I will be continuing with the values that we hold dear here at Brook Field while ensuring we never stay still,” he said.

“We are always looking to make progress that will ultimately achieve better outcomes for every individual child at the school.”

The school’s football team won the West Swindon league this season.

Brook Field has a range of after school clubs, including gardening, choir and a chess team.

There is also a before and after school club to provide wrap around care for all the children.

The school recently achieved the Dyslexia Friendly Mark. It also has anti-bullying accreditation.
