A SWINDON band is looking forward to getting on the road after announcing their first tour.

Old Colours, who released their debut EP in March, have enjoyed touring with other up-and-coming acts such as Chippenham’s Gabrielle Aplin, but are now stepping out on their own.

The tour that has been dubbed the M4 corridor tour will include a home gig at the Victoria, in Victoria Road, Old Town, on July 24.

The four-piece band consist of singer Zoe Mead, from Shaw, drummer Jamie Warren, from Blunsdon, guitarist Loic Wall from Cheltenham and bassist Daniel June from Slough.

The tour will start in July and takes in six venues before the band will be sharing the bill with the likes of Jake Bugg and Lucy Rose at Beach Break Live and 2000 Trees Festival.

The band were formed in late 2011, and the long-time friends have been writing music together for several years, developing their unique writing style, incorporating cinematic, soundtrack-style compositions and blending it with contemporary, radio-friendly Folk and Rock-Pop, taking influence from the likes of Sigur Ros, Arcade Fire and Efterklang.

Zoe, 24, said: “We have been building it up gradually because we wanted to write the best music we possibly could.

“We released our EP in March with a big launch gig at the Furnace, which was a good night.

“The tour is going from Cardiff to London and we are looking forward to it and then hopefully in the winter we will be doing a bigger tour.

“It will be nice to perform at The Vic and show people what we have been working on.”

After a series of self-released songs hit Soundcloud, the band were shortly picked up by a US based music syncing company, who have recently secured a highly valuable deal for the third track from the EP, Centre Line, which is set to be aired across International Channel, ABC Television.

The song is expected to appear on a new series from the makers of drama Gossip Girl.

“To have that kind of exposure for us is a big deal,” said Zoe.

“It is good to know our music will be heard by however many thousands watch ABC, and that our music will be heard in America and it could lead to us touring in other countries.”
