POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in North Swindon.

Officers were called shortly after 9pm yesterday to reports of the incident, which happened near Thamesdown Drive.

An 18-year-old male was walking alone along a footpath parallel to Thamesdown Drive, close to the junction with Oakhurst Way, when he was approached by a group of approximately five males.

One of the group then threatened the victim with what appeared to be some form of firearm.

The victim was then assaulted before the male stole his mobile phone.

This male is described as white, with dark hair, dark facial hair/stubble, with black bushy eyebrows and between 16 to 17-years-old.

He is 5ft 11 to 6ft tall, of medium build with a prominent nose. He was wearing a plain black peak cap, a dark grey hooded top with the hood up, dark baggy jeans and black trainers.

He spoke with a deep, local accent.

The police helicopter was deployed along with ground patrols to locate the group. Unfortunately, they were not located.

The victim required medical treatment for injuries to both knees.
