THIEVES have broken into a Swindon primary school twice in a week.

Burglars are believed to have made off with projectors, laptops and whiteboards from Colebrook Infant School on Sunday and Wednesday night.

Parents at the school say they are disgusted that someone could steal educational resources from their children.

One father said: "We found out about the first burglary on Monday morning and the children were obviously very upset," he said.

"Then this morning when we arrived the children were taken into the hall rather than their classrooms.

"The people who did this are disgusting and need to be caught. Why stop a child from learning?"

Another parent, who asked not to be named, said: "This is a good school and it is horrible things like this have happened."

One mother said: "This morning my daughter's classroom was broken into and it seems to me that everybody should be told what is going on.

"My daughter is scared about what might happen, and it is affecting her at home.

"She has had trouble getting to sleep because the baddies might get me'."

The woman called for more security on the school site. "There have been bottles smashed on the playground, both at the junior and infant schools," she said.

A spokeswoman for Swindon Council said: "The schools are understandably very upset and are now looking at increasing security measures. They will also be working with a crime prevention officer to help this further."

Anyone who has information about the burglaries is asked to call Swindon Police on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
