TOY lovers in Swindon will have a new store to visit to pick up the latest offerings next week.

The Entertainer will open a new store in Swindon on Saturday, September 27, at the Brunel Shopping Centre, bringing 10 new jobs to the town.

The retailer, who has seen profits rise in the last five years, is bucking the current trend across the retail industry and has plans to open further stores across the UK throughout this year, including the 3,500sq ft store in Swindon.

On the opening day, Power Rangers’ character Red Ranger will be making special appearances, and shoppers will also be able to enjoy various special offers when they make purchases of Power Rangers and LEGO.

The store will also celebrate its grand opening with a special trolley dash undertaken by local children who have been supported by Swindon children’s charity, Hop, Skip and Jump.

Sonia Osbourn, from Hop Skip and Jump, said: ‘We are very grateful to The Entertainer for choosing to support Hop Skip and Jump Swindon at the grand opening.

"This is a great opportunity for our children to receive some lovely new toys to play with during their respite sessions at Hop Skip and Jump.

"The chance to learn through play in a safe, secure environment can make the world of difference to the children we support.’

Steve Fawke, manager at the Brunel Centre, added: “We're continually working to bring new and national stores to Swindon town centre and so we’re delighted to welcome The Entertainer to The Brunel.

"Swindon families have been without a top quality toy retailer in the town centre for too long and it’s great that such a well-known name as The Entertainer has chosen The Brunel as its next home.

“The Entertainer’s commitment to the local community and providing top quality products that represent real value for money will fit well with The Brunel’s own aims and other retailers in the centre.”

Gary Grant, managing director and founder of The Entertainer, said “After experiencing such solid growth across the UK we are pleased to announce the opening of the Swindon store.

"Swindon and the centre itself continues to offer a strong retail position for our store as it attracts large numbers of family shoppers who are demanding more toy shopping choice on the high street and within shopping centres.

"We look forward to bringing joy and wonder to the children of Swindon and we have plans to increase our presence in UK and will announce further plans soon.”
