A MAN has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply hard drugs.
Homeless Ricky Lee Elliot, 23, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court last week.
On October 1, 2014, officers from the Dedicated Crime Team at Wiltshire Police stopped a vehicle which was entering Chippenham from the Bristol direction along the A420.
Officers seized mobile phones and had enough evidence to detain Elliot under the Misuse of Drugs Act and he was remanded in custody.
Forty hours later, he produced a quantity of crack cocaine and heroin which he had concealed inside his body. He was charged with drug supply offences and was sentenced to 42 months imprisonment last week.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Although we were unable to locate the drugs when we stopped this offender, we did have enough evidence to remand him into police custody until he produced them, following round the clock observation.
“Officers at Wiltshire Police will continue to target cross border dangerous drugs networks that are bringing class-A drugs from surrounding cities to sell on the streets of Wiltshire.
“We hope that this case acts as a deterrent to anyone involved in, or thinking of bringing drugs to our county.
“We would like to urge any members of our community who suspect any suspicious activity involving drugs to contact us immediately.”
