STRADDLING the line between talk and one man show, Michael Gray’s Bob Dylan and the History of Rock ‘n’ Roll promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats – not snoozing away.
With wit and style, the author of The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia and Song & Dance Man III: The Art Of Bob Dylan traces a young Robert Zimmerman’s first encounter with rock ‘n’ roll, how it had disintegrated into safe and shallow pop by the time Dylan was ready to launch his own career, and how it lured him back after his folk-singing days.
Michael’s show celebrates Dylan’s crucial role in modernising rock music when he went electric, and highlights some of his more recent rocking moments, using great records and rare footage.
Michael Gray has been a sell-out on American college campuses and all over the UK and Ireland at arts centres, theatres and festivals, from the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame to the Cúirt International Festival of Literature in Galway.
