POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a flasher struck outside a Swindon primary school yesterday evening.

A young girl walking home was targeted in the incident, which happened outside Abbey Meads Community Primary School shortly after 5pm.

The girl was walking towards the footbridge that goes from Abbey Meads to St Andrews Ridge across Thamesdown Drive when a man emerged from the bushes on the near side of the bridge.

He had his face covered and wasn’t wearing a top, his trousers were round his ankles as he exposed himself to the victim.

PC Sean Maghee, of Wiltshire Police, said: "The man is described as a black male, approximately 5ft 6 inches to 5ft 8 inches tall.

"He was wearing a red scarf with a white swirl pattern which covered his head with only the eyes visible.

"The female was left extremely upset, but fortunately was not harmed during the incident."

It has been reported that the school sent out a warning to parents using an emergency text alert system following the incident.

They declined to comment further when approached on Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC 1633 Sean Maghee at Gablecross Police Station on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
