THE Old Town Festival 2016 was officially launched at Commonweal School on Friday

As is tradition, this popular event kicked off with a fun race night to introduce the festival programme which has been produced by Graham Worrallo and Ian Butler from Screaming Media.

Mr Worrallo said: “Screaming Media is very pleased to once again be involved with the Old Town Festival. Our marketing activities for this event could not be possible without the support of our fantastic clients who have chosen to join us to create another fantastic event programme.”

"This much loved festival promises something for all the family," said Josie Williams, festival chairman and community arts development officer.

“We are delighted with the line-up for this year’s festival.” “The school is very proactive in the community providing performance opportunities for our students and the wider community. Now just bring on the sunshine,” she added.

The festival charity for this year is Therapeutic Work In Gardening in Swindon (TWIGS). Both TWIGS and the next door Olive Tree cafe give people with mental health difficulties the chance to learn new skills in horticulture and catering and restore confidence and belief in themselves.

Liza Lishman, Friends of Twigs trustee (treasurer) said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the Old Town Festival charity.”

Events throughout the festival will include The Commonweal Performing Arts Marquee at The Lawn on Saturday, June 11, the Kentwood Choir in Wood Street on Sunday, June 12, community acts, a fairground and dog show at The Lawn on Sunday, June 12, an organ recital at Christ Church on Tuesday, June 14, a Quiz Night at The Clifton pub on Wednesday, June 15 and pop and rock bands at The Bowl in Town Gardens on Saturday, June 18 as well as many more events.
