AFTER breaking into his mother's house to steal a low amount of cash a man left a note explaining what he had done.

Thomas Moore, formerly of Church Walk in Shrivenham, gave the court his mother's address of Queens Avenue in Highworth when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary dating from February 12, being drunk and disorderly at Sandlewood Court on April 20 and stealing a pot of paint from a Highworth man on May 1.

His defence Ben Worthingyon said his client was the first burglar he had come across who had left a note at the scene of the crime explaining what he had done.

The magistrates adjourned the case for a pre sentence report to be prepared on Moore.

He will next appear in court on June 17 to be sentenced and in the meantime he was released on unconditional bail, although the magistrates advised him it would be better if he did not contact the owner of the paint from Highworth.
