THREE men who took part in a bout of violence outside a curry house have been warned they could be facing jail.

Dylan Gaffey, Jacob Flay and Shane Perkins, set about a man who was punched, kicked and struck with a crutch during the late night attack.

Gaffey, 21, formerly of Cloatley Crescent, Royal Wootton Bassett, Flay, 20, of Dixon Way, and Perkins, 20, of Mallard Close, both Calne, admitted affray.

The trio were outside Curry King on William Street, Calne, when they got involved in a fracas with victim Richard Adams on Saturday September 19.

Mike Pulsford, for Flay, told Swindon Crown Court that when Mr Adams came out of the restaurant he moved towards his client's girlfriend.

"He felt she was going to be molested in some way because Adams was shouting at her," he said.

"He stepped in, punched Adams, Adams, he said, swung at him and made no contact, he punched Adams and he fell to the floor."

The men then scuffled on the ground and as Adams was getting the better of it he said his client landed a kick.

"He says he was trying to extricate himself and stand up and there may well have been a kick. It was my client trying to disengage.

"He disputes the assertion by two girls that he repeatedly kicked Adams on the ground."

Lee Mott, for Perkins, said his client watched all this then also had a scuffled with Mr Adams.

"On finally extricating himself he sees a crutch on the floor and struck twice to the body.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Friday June 17 so the probation service can compile pre-sentence reports.

He said: "You have heard what I have said: custodial sentences are very likely in this case."

He remanded Gaffey and Perkins, who are both serving prisoners, into custody and released Flay on bail.
